Learning PageMotor without the tech headaches
Welcome, beta tester! This friendly guide helps you understand PageMotor without drowning in technical jargon. Think of it as your helpful neighbor who happens to know their way around a CMS.
Let’s Get Started ↓PageMotor is a free, open-source content management system (CMS) built with PHP. In simpler terms, it’s software that helps you build and manage websites without needing to write code from scratch.
It’s designed for small business owners, hobbyists, and anyone who wants a straightforward way to get their ideas online. No computer science degree required!
Think of PageMotor as the foundation of your website. You add your content (text, images, pages), pick a design theme, and it handles all the technical stuff behind the scenes.
Set up PageMotor on your own computer first. This lets you experiment freely without affecting a live website. You’ll need a local server environment like XAMPP or Laravel Herd.
A database is where all your content lives. During installation, you’ll create one and connect it to PageMotor. The installer walks you through this step by step.
Once installed, visit your site’s admin panel (usually yoursite.com/admin). This is your control center where you’ll manage pages, settings, and content.
Themes control how your site looks. Browse the available themes, pick one you like, and activate it. Your site instantly gets a new look!
Here’s where PageMotor gets exciting: you can use AI to help design your site! It’s a three-step dance between you, Claude (an AI assistant), and PageMotor.
Chat with Claude about what you want your site to look like. Describe your vision, colors, layout ideas—Claude will create the design code for you.
Use the special PageMotor Skill to transform Claude’s design into a format PageMotor understands. It’s like a translator between AI and your CMS.
Upload the converted theme to PageMotor, activate it, and boom—your AI-designed site is live! Tweak as needed from the admin panel.
If changes aren’t showing up, try clearing your browser cache. PageMotor sometimes holds onto old versions to speed things up.
Getting “permission denied” errors? Make sure your folders are writable. The uploads and cache folders especially need the right permissions.
PageMotor needs a specific PHP version to run smoothly. Check the requirements and make sure your server matches. When in doubt, PHP 8.1+ is your friend.
Before making big changes, export your database and download your files. Beta software can be unpredictable—backups are your safety net!
Found a bug? That’s actually helpful! Report it to the PageMotor team with as much detail as possible. Screenshots and steps to reproduce are gold.
Stuck on something? Walk away, grab a coffee, come back fresh. Tech problems often solve themselves after you’ve stopped staring at them!

PageMotor is still being built — and right now, most of the documentation speaks developer. This site speaks human. Built by a non-technical beta tester, with the full blessing of PageMotor's creator.
